Beckley Psytech is Recruiting for Trial of 5-MeO-DMT in Healthy Subjects

Beckley Psytech, a psychedelic drug discovery for-profit company borne out of Amanda Fielding's Beckley Foundation, is recruiting for a clinical trial investigating the effects of 5-MeO-DMT in healthy volunteers.

5-MeO-DMT, a psychedelic substance found naturally in the venom of the Sonoran desert toad (and some plants), has anecdotal data suggesting its potential for treating mental health illnesses such as depression and substance use disorders. The compound has some benefits over more studied psychedelics such as psilocybin due to its shorter "trip" (up to 1.5 hours vs psilocybin's 4-6 hours). However, it has been described as a very intense experience, with rapid ego death and so requires adequate preparatory psychotherapy and post-treatment integration.
