Johns Hopkins Psychedelic and Consciousness Research Center

Johns Hopkins Medicine’s Center for Psychedelic and Consciousness Research Center has just received $17million from private donors to open as the first such research center in the U.S. and the largest of its kind in the world thus far. The center will focus on the effects of psychedelics on behaviour, brain function, learning, memory, brain biology, and mood. The center’s director and professor of behavioral biology in the Department of Psychiatry and behavioral Sciences at Johns Hopkins University Medical School says, “The center’s establishment reflects a new era of research in therapeutics and the mind through studying this unique and remarkable class of pharmacological compounds...we plan to investigate creativity and well-being in healthy volunteers that we hope will open up new ways to support human thriving.”
